Bernstein Medical – Center for Hair Restoration

I was hoping to make a plan for a restorative procedure after a bad hair transplant back in January at a different clinic. It turned out to be a huge waste of money and time. Basically, after Dr. Shaver, in a quite dismissive way, told me THREE TIMES that I shouldn’t have done anything in the first place, completely ignoring my motives and concerns, and her advice was to go home and pluck the entire transplanted area with a tweezer and call it a day. Yes, I was paying for her medical expertise, and I’m not easily offended, but overall, her judgmental attitude was very discouraging. Mediocre experience at best.

Fantastic, caring, wonderful group. I would have been bald 3 decades ago, but for Dr. Bernstein’s office. They recently switched me from foam Rogaine to a pill form, once a day. I had heard about possible “shedding“. For anyone who is worried about that, while I am not a doctor, don’t believe it. Some of my colleagues have bought their hair medication online. If you actually care about keeping your hair, it’s worth the few bucks to go to this office because they know what they’re doing. I very highly recommend Bernstein medical.

Absolutely great experience from start to finish. Dr. Shaver is very skilled, kind, empathetic and responsive. I ask a lot of questions and she never makes me feel like it's a nuisance. The process itself was very comfortable, and the staff could not have been nicer. I don't know why anyone would even consider going anywhere else.

I had a follow-up visit with Dr. Shaver this month (May 2025) that I want to share with those seeking professional hair restoration. Previously, mid 2022, Dr. Shaver performed "FUT" restoration for me (I wrote a review describing how pleased I was with the entire experience, including the result). After 3 years, I noticed that the transplanted hair remains strongly in place but that I've lost some ground with the "original" hair on top of my scalp. I consulted Dr. Shaver, and instead of trying to persuade me to undergo a second FUT procedure, she recommended medicinal alternatives to slow or reverse the thinning process. She could have "sold" me a much more expensive second FUT procedure, but she explained the medical reasons that that might not be the best solution for me. She is honest, forthright, and a knowledgeable and skillful surgeon. If you're shopping for a hair replacement doctor, give serious consideration to Dr. Shaver.

As always, the entire staff was awesome, on time and highly professional. Including putting up with my Brooklyn sense of humor. No small thing. Dr. Shaver is doing an incredible job of carrying on Dr. Bernstein’s legacy.
